“The mission of PipJazz Foundation, a nonprofit organization,

is to bring world class music to the community in a family friendly environment

where young people can be inspired to fully engage in the arts”

PipJazz live is an innovative jazz concert series founded and hosted by Chicago born jazz/blues singer/songwriter Pippi Ardennia. Now in its 6th season, this concert series began on June 12th of 2011  This family friendly event is co-produced by drummer Glenn Swanson and features a core ensemble (The PipJazz Experience) of premier Twin Cities jazz musicians - Peter Schimke, piano; Billy Peterson, bass; Dean MacGraw, guitar: Marcus Wise, tabla. Each month features a local guest artist who provides a different experience for each concert. The core ensemble becomes a new band each month as it incorporates the instruments and talents of these stellar headliners.

In addition, a youth guest artist is featured for every concert to perform with the group, giving them the opportunity to “sit in” with seasoned jazz artists. This “trial by fire” experiment has become a crowd favorite as they see and hear these amazing transformative moments happen before their eyes. It has also been an inspiration to the musicians who’ve all had similar experiences and now can share that spark of spontaneous creativity on stage with students.

As a 501C3 nonprofit organization, PipJazz LIVE, PipJazz Youth Program and Community Theater depend on generous support from donors.

What We Do.

PipJazz LIVE  gives talented young artists the opportunity to gain a real life performance experience with world class musicians in a family friendly environment.  The concerts are held once a month on a Saturday Evening at a premier community theater, giving parents, students and the community at large a convenient opportunity to hear Twin Cites music at its best, live.

Supporting PipJazz Youth Program creates an environment for students from diverse backgrounds to attend PipJazz Workshops and PipJazz Live shows cost free.

Why we do what we do.

"I had a great time rehearsing and performing with Pippi and her band. I felt inspired with their words of encouragement and wisdom during the rehearsal. I am thankful to the band’s willingness to give their time to assist me. The chance to play and talk with pros makes me think that I could become one of them someday. What once seemed untouchable now seems achievable."
